Red Velvet

Red Velvet (Hangul: 레드벨벳) is a South Korean girl group formed by S.M. Entertainment. The group debuted on August 1, 2014, with their digital single "Happiness". The group is composed of five members: Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, Joy and Yeri. Since their debut, Red Velvet has experienced notable success and recognition. In September 2015, the group's first full-length album, The Red, topped the Gaon Album Chart and the Billboard World Albums Chart. Red Velvet has received a total of eleven music awards, including two awards for choreography; Best Dance – Female and Best Dance Performance – Female Group, as well as three new artist awards.

Irene

Irene (Hangul: 아이린) was born Bae Joo-hyun (Hangul: 배주현, Hanja: 裴柱現) on March 29, 1991 (age 25) in Daegu, South Korea. Before debuting with Red Velvet, she appeared in several music videos of S.M. Entertainment's artists, including Henry Lau's "1-4-3 (I Love You)", and Kyuhyun's "At Gwanghwamun". From May 2015 to June 2016, she co-hosted Music Bank with Park Bo-gum. Irene made her acting debut in August 2016 in the web drama The Female Employees of a Game Company as the female lead Ahreum. On 14 October 2016, it has been confirmed that Irene will be hosting a new fashion talk show called Laundry Day.

Seulgi

Seulgi (Hangul: 슬기) was born Kang Seul-gi (Hangul: 강슬기) on February 10, 1994 (age 22) in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Before debuting with Red Velvet, she appeared in the music video for Henry Lau's "Fantastic", from his album Fantastic. She was also featured on the song "Butterfly", from the same album. In January 2015, she starred in a S.M. Entertainment musical School Oz, playing the lead role of Dorothy. In July 2016, she released the song "Don't Push Me" with Wendy as part of the soundtrack of the KBS2 drama, Uncontrollably Fond.

Wendy

Wendy (Hangul: 웬디) was born Son Seung-wan (Hangul: 손승완, Hanja: 孫勝完) on February 21, 1994 (age 22) in Seongbuk-dong, Seoul, South Korea. Wendy Son is her English name, which she studied under while attending Richmond Hill High School in Richmond Hill, Greater Toronto, Ontario, where she also performed with the school's show choir, Vocal Fusion. In 2010, she auditioned for and became a finalist in the "Koreaboo: Cube Entertainment Global Auditions 2011". She was cast by S.M. Entertainment in 2012 after auditioning at the S.M. Global Audition in Canada. On March 14, 2014, Wendy released the sound track of Mnet's drama Mimi, titled "Because I Love You". Wendy also collaborated with rapper Yuk Jidam for the song "Return", which is the sound track for KBS2's Who Are You: School 2015, which was released on June 8, 2015. She released another song "Let You Know" for the soundtrack of JTBC's drama D-Day on October 16. On March 4, 2016, she released a duet with Eric Nam titled "Spring Love" as part of S.M. Entertainment's SM Station project. In July, she released a duet with Seulgi called "Don't Push Me" for the soundtrack of the KBS2 drama, Uncontrollably Fond.

Joy

Joy (Hangul: 조이) was born Park Soo-young (Hangul: 박수영, Hanja: 朴秀英) on September 3, 1996 (age 20) in Seoul, South Korea. During grade school, she performed K-rock band Cherry Filter's "Flying Duck" which marked the beginning of her aspiration to become a singer. She auditioned and was cast by S.M. Entertainment at the S.M. Global Audition in Seoul in 2012. She graduated from School of Performing Arts Seoul in February 2015. In 2015, Joy gained public interest by joining the fourth season of reality show We Got Married, where she was paired with BtoB member Yook Sung-jae.She and Yook won Best Couple at the MBC Entertainment Awards with Joy winning the award for 2015's New Star of the Year. They also released a duet single titled "Young Love".

Yeri

Yeri (Hangul: 예리) was born Kim Ye-rim (Hangul: 김예림, Hanja: 金藝琳) on March 5, 1999 (age 17) in Seoul, South Korea. In 2011, she was cast by S.M. Entertainment and was introduced as a new member to the group on March 10, 2015. From May 9, 2015 to November 14, 2015, Yeri hosted the MBC music program, Show! Music Core. Yeri currently attends Hanlim Multi Art School. Yeri is also good friends with actress Kim Sae-ron and Akdong Musician's Suhyun. She likes the American singer Ariana Grande, and covered her songs Almost Is Never Enough and "Snow In California" on the group's official Instagram account. In July 2016, Yeri was the female lead in the music video for J-Min and Shim Eun-jee's "Way Back Home", which was released as part of the single project SM Station.

Twice

Twice (Hangul: 트와이스; stylized as TWICE) is a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment through the 2015 reality show Sixteen. The group is composed of nine members: Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. The group debuted on October 20, 2015, with the mini-album The Story Begins

Nayeon

Im Na-yeon (Hangul: 임나연) was born on September 22, 1995 (age 21) in Seoul, South Korea. On September 15, 2010, Nayeon secretly attended JYP Entertainment's 7th Open Audition and became a trainee. In 2013, she was cast as a member of 6mix, a JYP girl group that was planned but never debuted. Prior to Sixteen and her debut as a member of Twice, she appeared in few television advertisements and in several music videos of her label mates, including Jun. K's "No Love," and "Your Wedding", Got7's "Girls Girls Girls" and miss A's "Only You." She also made a cameo appearance in the second episode of KBS2's 2012 Korean drama Dream High 2.

JungYeon

Yoo Jeong-yeon (Hangul: 유정연) was born as Yoo Kyung-wan (유경완) on November 1, 1996 (age 20) in Suwon, South Korea. She is the younger sister of actress Gong Seung-yeon. As a child, she was often teased because Kyung-wan sounded like a boy's name. She legally changed her name to Jeong-yeon when she was in the third grade. She joined the company after passing the JYP Entertainment's 6th Open Audition on March 1, 2010. Like Nayeon, Jihyo and Sana, she was originally set to debut in a group called 6mix. In 2014, she appeared with Nayeon in the music video of Got7's "Girls Girls Girls" and, in 2015, appeared in miss A's "Only You" music video. She and her sister are two of the current hosts of Inkigayo since July 3, 2016.

Momo

Hirai Momo (平井 もも Hirai Momo), known mononymously as Momo (Hangul: 모모), was born on November 9, 1996 (age 20) in Kyōtanabe, Kyoto, Japan. She is the main dancer of Twice. Momo started dancing at a very young age and decided to become a singer because of Amuro Namie and got into K-pop after watching Rain and Lee Hyori. She was scouted by JYP Entertainment after they saw a dance video of her and her older sister. She was told to audition with her sister on April 13, 2012, though she was the only one who made it in In 2014, she appeared in the music video of Got7's "Stop Stop It" and the Japanese MV of Junho's "Feel". In the following year, she appeared in the music videos of Wooyoung's "R.O.S.E" and miss A's "Only You." She is the only eliminated member of the survival show Sixteen to be brought back to debut as a member of Twice.

Sana

Minatozaki Sana (湊崎 紗夏 Minatozaki Sana), known mononymously as Sana (Hangul: 사나), was born on December 29, 1996 (age 20) in Tennōji-ku, Osaka, Japan. Sana first got interested in K-pop because of Girls' Generation's and KARA's rising popularity in Japan. In her last year of middle school, she was scouted by JYP Entertainment on the street and auditioned on April 13, 2012. She appeared in the music video of Got7's "A" and Junho's "Feel".

Jihyo

Park Ji-hyo (Hangul: 박지효) was born as Park Ji-soo (Hangul: 박지수) on February 1, 1997 (age 19) in Guri, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. She is the leader and main vocalist of the group. When Jihyo was a third grader, she participated in a contest on Junior Naver for a child role. After she won second place, she was scouted by JYP Entertainment.She officially joined the company on July 15, 2005, and was a trainee for over 10 years. Jihyo was known mostly pre-debut as the face of Innisfree's teen line "TN" with boy band Boyfriend and later with future group mate Nayeon. She was set to debut in the girl group 6mix along with future group mate Nayeon, Jeongyeon and Sana, prior to competing on Sixteen. She also appeared in the music video of miss A's "Only You". She legally changed her name from Ji-soo to Ji-hyo before Sixteen. Jihyo collaborated with Apink's Jung Eun-ji and Ben for the part 1 of Inkigayo's special project called "Inkigayo Music Crush". Their ballad song entitled "The Reason I Got Pretty" (내가 예뻐진 이유) was released on November 6, 2016 as a digital single.

Mina

Myoui Mina (名井 南 Myōi Mina), known mononymously as Mina (Hangul: 미나), was born on March 24, 1997 (age 19) in San Antonio, Texas, and moved to Kobe, Japan, when she was a toddler. She studied ballet for eleven years before joining Urizip dance school for more modern dance training.In 2013, she was scouted by a JYP Entertainment staff member while shopping with her mother and was invited to join JYP Entertainment Global.[49] She auditioned in a JYP audition in Japan and joined the trainee program in South Korea on January 2, 2014. She appeared in the music videos of Got7's "Stop Stop It", Junho's "Feel", Wooyoung's "R.O.S.E", and Miss A's "Only You".

Daehyun

Kim Da-hyun (Hangul: 김다현) was born on May 28, 1998 (age 18) in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. Dahyun first gained attention in sixth grade after a video of her at church performing a "head-banging, wing-flapping, and thoroughly irrepressible dance" to Hillsong's "The Power of Your Love" went viral on YouTube in 2011 and earned her the moniker "Eagle Dance Church Sister." In middle school, she performed a solo in a youth dance festival and was scouted by JYP Entertainment. She auditioned for the company on July 7, 2012, and officially became a trainee. She later appeared in the music video of Got7's "Stop Stop It" and Wooyoung's "R.O.S.E". She is now a senior student at Hanlim Multi Art School.

Chaeyoung

Son Chae-young (Hangul: 손채영) was born on April 23, 1999 (age 17) in Seoul, South Korea. Chaeyoung attended a dance academy for about a year when she was a sixth grader. She joined the company after passing the audition on June 6, 2012. Prior to Sixteen, she appeared in the music video of Got7's "Stop Stop It" and miss A's "Only You". She is currently attending Hanlim Multi Art School as a 10th grader majoring in practical music. She was a primary school mate of Yeoreum of Cosmic Girls.

Tzuyu

Chou Tzu-yu (Chinese: 周子瑜; pinyin: Zhōu Zǐyú), known mononymously as Tzuyu (Hangul: 쯔위), was born on June 14, 1999 (age 17) in Tainan, Taiwan. She was discovered by entertainment scouts at the MUSE Performing Arts Workshop in Tainan in 2012, and went to South Korea on November 15 to start her training. She appeared in the music videos of Got7's "Stop Stop It" and Miss A's "Only You" before joining Sixteen. She is one of the two members added to the final line-up of Twice in the finale, along with Momo.She is currently a freshman at Hanlim Multi Art School after passing her exam in Taiwan to certify her middle school education.

BlackPink

BLACKPINK (Hangul: 블랙핑크), also stylized as BLΛƆKPIИK, is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment and the first girl group to debut under the same entertainment seven years after 2NE1. The group consists of four members: Jennie, Lisa, Jisoo, Rosé. They officially debuted on August 8, 2016 with the single album Square One. In January 2017, BLACKPINK revealed their fan club name, BLINK, via their official Instagram.

Kim Jisoo (Hangul: 김지수), known as Jisoo, was born in Seoul, South Korea on January 3, 1995 (age 22). Jisoo joined YG Entertainment as a trainee in July 2011.

Jennie Kim (Hangul: 김제니), known as Jennie, was born in South Korea on January 16, 1996 (age 21). Jennie was raised and studied abroad in New Zealand. She joined YG in August 2010.

Roseanne Park or Park Chaeyoung (Hangul: 박채영), known as Rosé, was born in New Zealand on February 11, 1997 (age 19), and was raised in Melbourne, Australia. She placed first at YG auditions in Australia and joined the agency in May 2012.

Lalisa Manoban or Pranpriya Manoban (Thai: ลลิษา มโนบาล or ปราณปริยา มโนบาล), known as Lisa, was born in Thailand on March 27, 1997 (age 19). She started dancing at a young age and was part of a dance crew named "We Zaa Cool" alongside Got7's BamBam. Lisa was the only person accepted into YG Entertainment during their audition in Thailand in 2010. She joined YG in April 2011, becoming YG's first non-Korean artist.
